Burnt Engine

Tear down of the engine is pretty much complete. Definite signs of oil starvation. All the bearings, both rod and crank, are copper colored. A good sign the bearing got really hot. With the debris I bulled from the oil pickup screen, I am not surprised. I will post some bearing pics later next week.

351W update

Got more of the engine torn down. WOW, whoever rebuilt this engine was a complete moron! It looks like it was just pulled apart, and slapped back together, without the original seals and a fresh layer of silicone on the gaskets. Pistons are damaged. Oh well, it was going to be rebuilt anyways.
I found a piece of a seal, jammed in the oil pump return.

Body

Over the past week of so, I have done a full evaluation on the body. It looked good, however, a lot of unseen rust, hidden. This means more body panels will need to be replaced than first thought. The good thing all the panels are readily available from many sources, for reasonable prices.

The floors were patched by some idiot that had no idea what they were doing, so both side will need to be replaced, full length.

More of the floors.

The dash is pretty solid and in nice shape...

...except for the radio area. And it's not like the P/O (previous owner) made a nice cut for an after market radio. This are is HACKED! It's looks like they used a hammer and pliers.

The trunk area needs replacing as well.

Again, parts are readily available.

Car info

This was the decoded info from the warranty number in the door

Rudy is home!

Yes, I shortened Rudedog II down to 'Rudy' The name came to me as I was waking out of a truck stop, that I stopped at to check the straps. "He just looks like a 'Rudy'" I thought.

Anyways, yesterday, Rudy made it to his new home. With a borrowed trailer, and help from a friend to unload him, he was all snug in the garage.

As was driving, I snapped a selfie of Rudy on the trailer.

After getting home, getting ready to unload

All ready

The Heart on the Stand

Well, Got the 351W onto the engine stand yesterday. It will probably stay there for a while. Although, I will begin dismantling it here and there.

My plan it to get it stripped, and use it as a template when I start working on the engine compartment, that way I can mock it up, with just the heads and headers on it.

Heart of the Beast

Picked up a 351W last night. Needs a rebuild, but it was cheap. Engine was complete, even had an Edelbrock carb.
